In less than 2 hours, Paradise Hunter will announce the winner after an almost 6 month long worldwide search.  I feel excited, almost relieved, very happy, a bit nervous and most of all, extremely thankful for this incredible journey! 

12 months ago, when I left NBC to start on my own, I have never thought I would end up on Life magazine site, the largest news sites in China, meeting with billionaires for business opportunities and having a life changing experience with an incredible group of Paradise Hunters!  10 years ago, when I came from a 10x10 room in China with broken English, no money, no family to a country I didn’t know anyone, no one believed I can one day host a show in English. But today, I became top 10 and the only non native English speaker finalist in a global TV host contest.  So DARE TO DREAM & ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE IF YOU DON’T GIVE UP!

The winners were drawn by Mr. Chris Hoffman, CEO of Shecky’s (sheckys.com) and Miss Li Jing (cultureli.com), a top 40 semi finalist at Paradisehunter.com TV host contest, from hundreds of voters collected from facebook, twitter and email.  Jing was voted top 3 in US and top 5 in the world in the preliminary contest. Shecky’s originally sponsored two voter prize with each to be drawn in semi final and final. However, due to the overwhelming support Li Jing has received from the public and media, Shecky’s has generously agreed to add two more prizes and increased the grand prize value for the first drawing.

She received 12,261 votes from voters around the world in the preliminary voting, her voting link was posted on facebook by more than 1500 people and her youtube video has been watched for more than 6723 times in a few weeks. 

Celebrities such as international pianist Lang Lang, NBC legendary anchor Chuck Scarborough, TV star Prince Lorenzo Borghese, Model/Entrepreneur Melania Trump, Emmy winning ABC reporter Bob Woodruff and NY TV host/reporter Howard Thompson and Ornella Fado all sent their congratulations or voted for her.

Li’s story was covered by major Chinese and American media such as the front page of the largest Chinese website in North America Sina.com and the largest Chinese TV in NY, sinovision and major Chinese newspaper such as China Press and World Journal.

Li said she is very grateful for the support she received. She said, “I have never thought I could one day be voted top 3 in America out of hundreds to be a TV host in my second language! It just shows that if you have a passion and don’t give up, you WILL reach your dream! This contest is an a testment of that dream. It has changed my life! Tonight is the first time I held a prize for my Paradise Hunter host voters (www.paradisehunter.com/vote/Li-Jing.html). The winner is Ludgy Wu! A lovely and stylish Filmmaker!  Now I got #1 votes in NY, #2 in US, #7 in the world, it’s all because of my supporters/friends voting for me everyday!  I wish I could take all of my voters out but for now, one at a time =) Becoming a winner was interesting for Ludgy because

1 He only has 7 friends on Facebook and I am one of them! Ludgy said I was actually one of the reasons he started using Facebook. Wow, I am honored =) We met a few months ago at Asian American Film Festival when I asked Ludgy to check out FB, and now he became my 1st prize winner! Life is interesting and you just got to try and connect. We had a great conversation and quite some drinks.

2 By looking at Ludgy, you’d never know he is actually HALF Asian! Yes, Ludgy said his father is Korean and mother is Haitian. Talking about not judging people by looks. He is such a good looking and kind guy. I am so happy that I have so many great people like Ludgy to vote for me everyday.

We had a great time at Public House New York (41 St & Lexington Ave) and it was huge. It was both of our first times being there and I LOVED the music, a professional-finance type crowd. So if you are in NYC, it would be a cool place for drinks. 

Holding this award is a way to say thank you to my voters. I just entered the Paradise Hunter worldwide host contest a week ago and received more than 2441 votes now. So many people supported and voted for me everyday, from NY to China, Finland, Australia, Spain! I wish I can take all of them out for drinks and thank everyone!
