Alexander McQueen died at 40. I couldn’t believe it when I heard it on the radio today. It’s so sad for someone to die at such a young age, especially someone with an amazing talent and career. Unconfirmed reports say it’s suicide-even more shocking and you wonder why if so? Why would someone so young with an amazing career would choose to end it once and for all?
I have long admired McQueen’s style-just like his label’s name: very queen, luxury, vibrant, free and daring!
Life is funny, you learned surprising facts about someone when they die. A perfect image is quite often created and not perfect at all. That’s why you see those “shocking” news about Tiger Woods, John Edwards and Bill Clinton. It’s not really shocking, only the news to the public.
Being in the celebrity world and on the limelight myself, I understand how the image could be created through media, the light, camera, makeup, hair and stories true or untrue. Behind the scene, a lot of things are surprising. Everyone has struggles but people don’t like to share struggles, especially that struggle or problem is related to their image, because ultimately that’s related to income and career.
However, death is different, it’s final and no turning back or second chance. That’s why it’s sad. Maybe he could have been saved if someone talked to him, brutally honest? Asked him some hard questions? I have enormous respect for people who can do that—because it really can save lives.
I hope Alexander or by his birth first name, Lee McQueen find peace and happiness wherever he is now. To learn more about this talented yet controversial designer, click here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alexander_McQueen
